Be Inspired to Learn!

By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

“The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly]—that people may understand a proverb and a figure of speech or an enigma with its interpretation, and the words of the wise and their dark sayings or riddles.”
(Proverbs 1:5-6, AMP)

The kind of education you get in school matters a lot. What informs your course and subject choices will also determine the colleges or universities you’ll attend. I believe that’s where some young people miss it from the very beginning: when they do not know what kind of education they need. The world we’re in today is quite different from what most of our academicians and educationists lived in twenty years ago. Things have changed, and until one recognizes this and adjusts his mind so he’s relevant in a changing society, he’ll never be able to stay afloat in a constantly evolving world.

That you watch the news on television or read the dailies all the time doesn’t necessarily mean you’re up-to-date. Being up-to-date in life has to do with activating your mental processes and using your mind, and sadly, many young people have put their minds to sleep without realizing it. The reason is that many of those instructing, advising, or even teaching them are sleeping too, like Jesus said, “...they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit” (Matthew 15:14 NIV)!

School only inspires you to learn, and this is something you should understand clearly. What you gain within the four walls of that institution is the inspiration to learn and search for knowledge; your mind is awakened and enabled to analyse information and use it appropriately. That’s so important in life; don’t neglect school, because in it you’ll find the necessary inspiration for learning.

Go Deeper:
Proverbs  9:9
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

2 Timothy  1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Speak:
I am eager to learn and go for fresh knowledge every day. I’m directed and taught of the Holy Spirit and my mind is attuned to the right information at all times, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Act:
Take some time today to create a study timetable if you don’t have one already.
