Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21
One night, I was awaken by some discomfort in my body. My chest was heavy and I could not breathe properly. So I decided to step outside and inhale some fresh air. As I stood there struggling to breathe, the Lord showed me a vision of a new layer of landscape covering the place I was already looking directly at. The normal view before I saw the vision was that of darkness all over the community- the lights were out. But when the new landscape appeared, it was colourful and akin to a fresh painting by an artist.
I asked the Lord what it meant and He said that each time we speak, we create experiences whether we're conscious of it or not. Your words craft the happenings in your life.
What have you been saying about yourself lately? Jesus said you will either be justified or condemned by the words of your mouth (Matthew 12:34).
Our theme verse says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. By speaking the right words into your own life and over everything concerning you, you create those very things you speak. Did you know that the Word of God in your mouth is actually God Himself voicing Himself through you? You can move from where you are right now to where God wants you to be through the power of the spoken Word.
Joshua 1:8 reminds us that the Word of God should always be in our mouths. As you meditate on the Word of God, speak it into being. You can only access the realities in God's Word by voicing them. When you say, 'The Lord is my Shepherd, thus I refuse to lack. I have abundance!' you call that Word into being.
When you voice your feelings and experiences, you get entangled in a vicious circle of those same happenings. Before you talk, think! That's why you must get into the Word every day to discover what God is saying concerning you, your family, ministry. Then, as you receive those words into you, you speak them forth into being.
Speak words of power today!
